I spend a huge portion of my time running a variety of student programming events in different cities, including Baltimore, Fairfax, Richmond, Chicago & locally in Rockville. I believe events like these are great ways for students to get to know more abouta completely new fieldthat they might be hesitant to explore by themselves. For studies like computer science, these events are especially important for students to develop an interest to learn about them, instead of just sitting in a boring classroom, solving problems that the teachers assigned.

I volunteer for, a 501©(3) non-profit behind the nationwide coding event CodeDay, as a regional manager of DC. I have been running 3 seasons of CodeDay, engaging a total of over 200 students in the respective regions.
